INNOVATION IN RURAL EDUCATION

Academics

We have 7 undergraduate courses covering all major streams – Science, Commerce, Management and Arts. We have 3 PG Courses – in Social Work, Computer Science & Commerce. Every year, 1000 students study in our college in these courses. They attend classroom lectures; engage themselves in practical, fieldwork, group activities, and interactive sessions with mentors. In addition to teaching, we have regular co-curricular events like debate, poster making, and quiz competition. We have our annual Sports event – Singaji Premier League.

Sciences

We have courses in Computer Sciences – B.Sc. (CS) & BCA and biological sciences – B.Sc. in Biotechnology, B.Sc. in Microbiology & B.Sc. in Seed Technology. Computer Sciences courses are the forte of our institute, with a high rate of enrollment of students. Rural people have come to realize the huge job opportunities in this sector and want their children to go for it.

Commerce and Management

With the growth of private sector in India and increase in banking, insurance and other financial and management services, there is a huge demand for well-trained commerce and management graduates. Therefore, SSISM offers both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in these disciplines.

Arts & Social Work

The Institute runs B.A. (Computer Applications) course which offers social sciences education together with basic IT skills. In addition to this course, we also have MSW (Master of Social Work), which provides an opportunity to rural youth to become professional social workers.

Internships

In addition to regular classroom teaching, students also go for internships to various companies, NGOs and educational Institutes. Students have gone to internships in IT companies in Indore and Bangalore . Our Master of Social Work students have interned in NGOs in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

Career Counselling

Rural students need a lot of guidance and counselling when it comes to choosing a professional career. The parents of most of our students are farmers and labourers, and therefore the students have no clue about a professional career. We regularly provide them career counselling from their first year, so that they can choose the right career for them when they graduate.

Placements

Since the start of the Institute, our students have got placements in reputed companies. TCS, SAP Labs, Cognizant, Cap Gemini, Infosys, Wipro, Uber, Xerox, Flipkart, Gromor are some of the big names where our students are working.
